You can absolutely inspect your own gate: push it by hand with the opener disengaged, watch where it flexes, look for cracked paint lines around every bracket and hinge. That information saves us time and saves you money. What you should not do is weld on a gate that has an opener attached, especially a Mighty Mule arm under tension. The arm and brackets carry load even when the power is off, and a weld that pops while you are working on it will hurt you.
