BFT Welding & Fabrication: The Burleson Owner’s Guide

When the welded bracket on your BFT gate opener cracks, or the mounting plate tears loose from the gate frame, you need a fabricator who understands both the weld and the motor it supports. We stock BFT-compatible mounting hardware and fabricate replacement brackets, hinge reinforcements, and operator plates on site, with most Burleson jobs completed in a single visit for between $225 and $475 installed. You’ll usually discover the problem the same way most owners do: the gate starts sagging, the opener groans against a misaligned mount, or you hear a sharp pop one afternoon and find the operator hanging loose from the gate frame.

We’re an independent service company, not affiliated with BFT, and that matters when a welded component fails. We’re not tied to a factory replacement schedule. We fix the metal, match the part, and keep your BFT operator working.

Which BFT Models This Applies To

BFT operators run the Deimos, Phobos, and Rigel series across most Burleson driveways, and each series mounts differently. The Deimos BT and Phobos BT use a flat mounting plate that bolts to a welded bracket on the gate frame. The Rigel 5 and Rigel 7, common on heavier estate gates, carry more torque and put more stress on the weld points, which is exactly where we see failures in Johnson County’s summer heat and winter freezes.

If you’re matching a part yourself, look for the silver BFT data plate on the operator body. It lists the model and serial number. But here’s the compatibility gotcha: BFT changed the mounting-hole spacing on the Deimos series around 2018. An older bracket will not line up with a newer operator without re-drilling or re-fabrication. We keep both spacing patterns on the truck, so we don’t have to make a second trip for a measurement. For the welded components themselves, we fabricate to the existing gate framing rather than forcing a universal bracket. OEM brackets are available for some models, but on a 15-year-old BFT that has settled, a custom-fabricated plate matched to the actual gate geometry holds up better than a factory stamping.

Signs Your BFT Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

Most weld failures on a BFT gate in Burleson announce themselves long before the operator falls off. Here’s what we hear from homeowners, and what it means:

  • The operator jerks when it starts moving. The mounting bracket has worked loose or cracked, and the motor is fighting the misalignment. Every jerky start is adding stress to the gearbox.
  • You can see daylight between the bracket and the gate frame. A fatigue crack has opened up. In Burleson’s freeze-thaw cycles, moisture gets in and widens it fast.
  • The gate sags toward the latch side. The hinge welds or the gate frame itself has begun to fatigue. The BFT operator is carrying weight it was never meant to carry.
  • You hear a grinding or popping noise as the gate swings. The operator mount is flexing against broken welds. The noise is metal sliding against metal where it shouldn’t.
  • The operator works fine, but the gate stops before full open or close. A shifted mount changes the limit geometry, and the BFT board thinks the gate has reached its stop early.

Any of these means the metal has lost its grip. The longer it runs, the more damage gets done to the operator itself, which turns a $300 fabrication job into a $900 operator replacement.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Burleson, fabricated bracket and mounting-plate work on a BFT opener runs between $225 and $475 installed. A straightforward bracket replacement with the operator already on site sits at the lower end. A full hinge re-weld with gate alignment and operator re-mounting lands at the higher end. Here’s how that breaks down:

Job Typical Cost
BFT mounting bracket fabrication & install $225-$315
Operator mounting plate re-weld & alignment $275-$385
Full hinge re-weld + gate sag correction $350-$475

The price is quoted and agreed before any work starts. You know the number, we do the work, and the number doesn’t move. Every fabrication and weld carries our 90-Day Done Right Promise in writing, and we stock common BFT mounting plates and steel stock on the truck, so most Burleson jobs don’t need a follow-up visit.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check the obvious: look for visible cracks around the mounting points, see if the bracket bolts are snug, and watch the operator while someone runs the gate to spot the flex. That tells you whether you need us. But the actual repair involves two things that go wrong for homeowners: welding on a gate that’s under tension, and re-aligning the operator so the BFT limit sensors read correctly. If a gate leaf comes off its hinges during a weld repair, it’s hundreds of pounds of steel with no sympathy for whoever is standing under it. And a misaligned mount will destroy a BFT gearbox in months, not years.

Victor Salinas grew up in Burleson, not far from the old Chisholm Trail Crossing area, and he learned early that a weld either holds or it doesn’t. There’s no halfway. If you’re seeing any of the symptoms above, call (469) 564-8046. We’ll look at it, tell you exactly what’s wrong, and quote the fix before we touch anything.
